CARE Lab Scholarship

The CARE Lab uses community-engaged research practices to advance health equity for marginalized people, especially LGBTQIA+ folks and older adults. We believe that all people deserve to attain their fullest health potential, yet we recognize structural factors that inhibit that opportunity. Using quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods approaches, we examine the impact of structural factors on mental health and what counselors can do to advance positive human growth and development. We focus primarily on LGBTQIA+ people, older adults, and how these two populations intersect. However, using an intersectional framework, we collaborate with other teams to understand additional intersecting forces of oppression, such as how racism, ableism, and classism also impact these outcomes.
